CCTB monthly meeting

10-17-24

Excused-Charlie Stevenson

Highlights:

Dawn gave an accounting of the budget.

Jane reported on West Hills/Modena ride this past week and how beautiful the area is and how awesome the trails look.  She is hopeful for future rides in this area.

Phil gave report on the OHV Council ride on the 11th.  Discussion on how this has impacted the area and how it is already starting to grow back. The communities in Piute County are open and excited for people to come and visit.

Phil reported on PST 68 opening.

Phil gave update on Beaver County Jamboree and the dates for next year. Sept 29-Oct 2

Feedback was given by club members who attended the Color Country Jamboree.

Several members expressed concern about having to get donations several weeks prior.

Several expressed concern about the lack of urgency regarding the website, registration or the pushing of the jamboree by the county.

There was some frustration with the lack of numbers.

There were several members who asked about expanding the committee to more members, giving out assignments and having follow up on those assignments.

It was asked if the county could take a more active roll in getting donations.

The county commission has expressed some concern but are planning on having the jamboree next year, same time and same name.  They are looking at making some other changes as well TBD.

Upcoming rides…

Halloween Howl October 26th in Piute County

3 Corners ride in November (exact date TBD in coming weeks and will be posted.  This ride will be an expanded ride versus years past.)

Jane challenged more members to step up and lead rides.  It is getting hard to put pressure on a few to lead rides and jane is hopeful for more participation and ideas for winter rides in the south.

Brody will be planning some 50″ rides on Thousand Lakes and Barney Lake in late spring after snow is gone.  Get those 50″ machines out of mothballs.

Joe will be doing a ride north of Fishlake in the spring based upon snow.  He is hopeful people will want to attend.  This will be a very colorful and beautiful ride where the elk and deer hang out.

Kathy discussed the Christmas party. There were lots of people signing up tonight.  You have until November 21st to RSVP and pay for the Christmas party on December 6th.  There will be a white elephant gift exchange hosed by Phil, Kelly, Carol and Santa Pat.  There will be a care and share donation hosted by Steve and Bob, There will be a 50/50 drawing for tickets $1 per ticket.  With the winner getting half and the senior center getting half for their holiday events.  And of course dinner and door prizes.

There was also discussion on the recent attempts at closures, what the state is doing regarding their lawsuits against the Federal Government.  Also, an example in Sevier County of mountain bikers thinking they own the mountain versus families that have hunted for generations.  This sentiment extends to the OHV community.  We should all be in the battle together against government overreach of our lands.  If bikers, hikers, horseman, ranchers, and the OHV/4×4 community worked together, we would be a force to be reckoned with.  We encouraged our members to show respect on the trails to the Mountain bikers and other users of land. Show them that we are good and decent people who also respect the land we use.

I hope I  did not forget anything.

Thank you and see you on the trails.
