CCTB Minutes 7-18-24

Thank you to everyone that joined the meeting tonight.

Here are the highlights…

Dawn (treasurer) excused.

  • No club meeting August. There will be the Catered dinner on August 22nd Woods Ranch.  Please RSVP to Jane Hawkes ASAP and arrange for payment.  Dessert is pot luck so bring something sweet to share.
  • Charlie gave updates on the county trail system (800 miles of working the trail this week).  Also talked about the Color Country OHV Jamboree. The numbers of registered riders are low. We need your help to get people signed up for the Jamboree.  If you are a guide, please start getting out there and pre-riding your trails.  If you are unsure of your trail, get with Charle.
  • Phil gave an update on the Beaver Jamboree.  Numbers are also low, so get your registrations in ASAP.  Also gave update on Twist Creek Fire that has damaged some of the Paiute Trail.  This will be assessed by the Forest Service and the Paiute Trail Committee as soon as they can get in there.  This may impact a ride or two for the Beaver Jamboree, but other rides are ready to go.  As to the Silver King Fire, it has not destroyed the Silver King Mine.  It has damaged some structures in the Bullion Creek/Miners Park area.  The little cabin at the Hennessy Point lookout was destroyed.  Some of the Deer Creek trail is also damaged. They are worried about flooding with rainy season coming up.  This has devastated this side of the mountain to the west of Marysvale.  The Marysvale (Paiute Jamboree) is still on and they need you to support them in any way you can.
  • As a club, we voted on donating $400 to Marysvale so they can work on getting equipment to help fight fires in their community and to rebuild what has been lost.  You can still donate by going to the Marysvale Facebook page.
  • Charlie updated on the removal of an old trailer up near Dead Lake.  Mike Schuyleman from D&P Performance helped turn the trailer over and pulled it out to the road for the forest service to dispose of, which they did. Thanks Mike, Charlie and others who helped out.
  • July 27th Broken Ridge ride (pre-ride) open to all.  6am at the Y on hwy 56 (6am to beat the heat).  Please RSVP to Charlie.
  • Dual Club Ride Aug 23-24.  Discounts at Henries RV Park. Friday night potluck.  Bring a side to share.
  • Discussion on supporting the jamborees.  They need our help. Numbers are down.  If a jamboree folds, this is just one more feather in the cap for those wanting to shut down the trails.  Get signed up. There are 5 more Jamborees (August Marysvale and Panguitch), September (Richfield and Parowan), and October (Beaver).  We also encourage everyone to participate in the Paiute Trail Banquet Sept 14.  The Paiute Trail Committee uses this as their biggest fund raiser of the year to support and protect the Paiute Trail.  Get with Phil or Brody to get your tickets.  A great way to support the trail system, win prizes and is tax deductible.
  • Tomorrow is our club Friday lunch 1pm at the Mandarin.  We hope you will all join us.
  • We had a discussion on the Tonto National Forest in Arizona. They are implementing a fee schedule for use of the National Forest for OHV users.  Elections matter!  Your voice matters!  We need to be on guard to ensure this does not happen in Utah.
  • Charlie will organize a guide meeting for those helping with the Color Country OHV Jamboree prior to the jamboree.  Be on the lookout for this.
  • Jane has proposed some rides as has Karen. They will look at some dates for these rides.
  • Next club meeting at the senior center is Sept 19th.

I hope I have not missed anything.

See you on the trails.
